Life Cycle Indonesia (LCI), Blibli and JejakIn sat together in the Green Table Talk edition of the Kumparan Podcast Lab to discuss how individuals and organisations can transform sustainability awareness into meaningful action. Representing LCI, David Adiwijaya (CEO & Co-Founder) shared practical insights on conscious consumption and the importance of viewing sustainability through a complete life-cycle perspective.

This podcast forms part of the Langkah Membumi Ecoground 2025, a sustainability initiative that took place on 8–9 November 2025 at Taman Kota Peruri, Blok M. The session aims to strengthen public understanding of environmental issues, particularly among Gen Z, while providing practical pathways to turn concern into collective and measurable action.

ESG: It Is About Sustaining Our Life

The discussion opened with a reminder that sustainability extends far beyond environmental themes. At its core, ESG is about preserving the quality of life we enjoy today and ensuring it can be sustained for future generations to come.

In the context of the Triple Planetary Crisis—air pollution, climate change and biodiversity loss—the conversation stressed that these issues affect everyone and require shared responsibility, not just awareness from particular age groups.

Conscious Consumption: Understanding Impact from Beginning to End

David highlighted that responsible consumption requires more than simply checking whether a product is recyclable. It begins by understanding where materials come from, how a product is manufactured, how much energy it uses, how it is transported and what happens when it is no longer needed.

This whole-life view encourages people to make more thoughtful choices, avoid impulsive purchases and opt for durable, better-quality items. This shift in behaviour reduces waste and lightens the environmental burden created by unnecessary production.

Recognising Greenwashing Through Life-Cycle Thinking

The conversation also addressed the growing challenge of greenwashing, where selective information is presented as proof of sustainability. Without life-cycle understanding, consumers may be misled into believing something is sustainable when the broader footprint says otherwise.

Life-cycle thinking provides the clarity needed to distinguish between genuine environmental benefits and superficial claims. This perspective forms an important foundation for sustainability education, including within the Ecoground 2025 programme.

Gen Z: Highly Aware but Searching for Direction

The speakers noted a paradox among Gen Z. They are one of the most environmentally conscious generations, yet their levels of consumption—from fast fashion to online shopping—remain high.

Many express eagerness to contribute but are unsure where to begin. Questions such as “Does using a tumbler help?” or “Is taking public transport impactful?” show a need for clearer guidance and opportunities for hands-on learning. The discussion emphasised that small actions, when taken collectively, can create meaningful impact.

Creating an Accessible Ecosystem for Action

All speakers echoed the importance of creating an ecosystem that makes sustainable behaviour easier. Accessibility—whether through tools to measure impact, options for reducing waste or practical learning opportunities—plays a vital role in supporting long-term change.

Rather than offering isolated solutions, this ecosystem approach goes beyond offering individual solutions. It creates experiences that help build new habits, ensuring sustainability becomes part of everyday life. This objective aligns strongly with the aims of Ecoground 2025.

Langkah Membumi Ecoground 2025: A Space for Learning and Action

Langkah Membumi Ecoground 2025 was designed as a space where education, experience and action come together. Visitors had the opportunity to take part in eco-conscious workshops, health and wellness activities, cultural sessions and practical demonstrations of sustainable living.

Each ticket purchased contributed to the planting of one mangrove tree, giving attendees an immediate and meaningful connection to environmental restoration. Through these activities, the event encouraged participants to recognise how daily choices can shape broader environmental outcomes.

Closing Reflections

The Green Table Talk delivers a clear conclusion: awareness only becomes meaningful when it is followed by informed action. Understanding life-cycle impacts, recognising greenwashing and taking small, consistent steps can help safeguard the quality of life for current and future generations.

Through Langkah Membumi Ecoground 2025 by Blibli Tiket Action, the public was invited to learn, participate and act together—building a more conscious and sustainable lifestyle.
