Stepping up the Sustainability Journey with EPD Southeast Asia

Sustainability has become a key factor that most organizations in today's society strive to achieve. To ensure sustainable development without deteriorating the environment, governments in the Southeast Asia region have set relevant regulations. Nowadays, the market has become an environmentally conscious society where customers become increasingly savvy to unsubstantiated green claims. Investors and financial analysts are also looking for a green company to be supported. One of the popular tools to assess environmental footprint is life cycle assessment (LCA). Within the last decade, companies in the Southeast Asia region have shown significant progress in producing LCA reports, to be used as their competitive advantage. However, transparent, credible and comparable LCA results are crucial for brand reputation as well as compliance with the market and regulatory requirements.

Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) or Type III ecolabel exists to ensure transparent, verified and comparable information about the life-cycle environmental impact of products. With an EPD, industry should be able to communicate all relevant environmental information along a product's value or supply chain, continuously improve to select the best eco-design options and comply with laws around high-volume consumer products. EPD Southeast Asia hub is responsible for marketing and sales activities to manufacturers who are located in these countries and want to publish their EPDs.

Life Cycle Indonesia would like to congratulate EPD Southeast Asia for their launching webinar on Monday, April 20th 2020. The webinar was successfully held, joined by over 60 participants.

We believe that EPD plays a vital role in a company’s sustainability journey, as it is there to help achieve resource efficiency. Furthermore, it should drive the local economy by being the government's basis to conduct infrastructure projects.
