What is Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) ?

Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is a quantitative method to assess an industrial system in evaluating environmental impacts of a product or service during their entire life cycle.

The assessment is done from the extraction of raw materials to the disposal of the product (i.e. cradle-to-grave). According to ISO 14040/44, there are four iterative phases in doing LCA i.e. goal and scope definition, inventory analysis, impact assessment and interpretation.
